Functional Skills

All apprenticeship learners are required to achieve Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths as part of their programme, unless they hold prior qualifications at the required level. These essential skills underpin your professional development and are fully integrated into your training.

Career Progression

Our hairdressing qualifications open the door to a rewarding career in the hair and beauty industry. Learners who complete the Intermediate (Level 2) programme can progress to the Advanced (Level 3) diploma, building on their skills to become senior stylists, colour specialists or salon managers. Experienced professionals can go on to achieve the Assessor Award to train the next generation of hairdressers.

Funding Information

Hairdressing apprenticeships are funded by the Government through the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). Employers who pay the Apprenticeship Levy can use their levy funds to cover the full cost of training. Non-levy paying employers benefit from 95% government co-investment, meaning you contribute just 5% of the training costs. Additional incentive payments may be available for hiring apprentices aged 16–18 or those with an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Funding

Apprenticeship training is fully funded by the Government for eligible learners, meaning there is no cost to you. Your employer covers a small contribution (or uses their Apprenticeship Levy), and the Government funds the rest. You will also receive a wage from your employer throughout the duration of your apprenticeship.
